Lockport CARES, Living Well Program

We are committed to saturating our region with the Good News of Jesus and we know we share that commitment with many other ministries. We wanted to come alongside and partner with those ministries to support their Kingdom efforts because we believe that God is deeply and powerfully moving through those efforts. With that desire, grants were awarded to a number of partners to support them in this common mission.

Here is what the Living Well Program shared about the grant that was awarded to them:

"The Living Well Program is a series of seven classes offered at no cost to men and women, teenage through adult.  The purpose of the program is to provide, at no charge, friendly, hands-on instruction teaching them basic life skills while offering them the opportunity to feel, see and know the love of Jesus Christ.  These classes are taught primarily by volunteers, and offer learning in the following subjects:  Nutrition & Cooking, Boundaries, Addictions – Risks & Recovery, Clothing Repair, Budgeting & Finances, Healthy Image and Grief & Loss.  The two hour classes are held weekly, and the primary location currently is at Save the Michaels in Lockport.  However, the program has also been held at Madonna House in Lockport and is currently being offered in Albion, NY.  We have been asked to bring the LWP to North Tonawanda as well.  The need and the demand continues to rise.

The program was given its name based on our desire to put tools into the hands of our participants in order to help them “live life well.”  However, it is also based on the wonderful story of the woman at the well in the Gospel of John.  It is an amazing privilege to tell that story each week when there are new attendees, sharing with them the news that Jesus continues to be the only One who will truly satisfy the emptiness in our hearts, through a relationship with Him. Bibles are available at all classes, along with Daily Bread, and many copies are taken.  Although the classes are only two hours in length, the opportunities for ongoing relationships, mentoring and spiritual growth are countless. All of the praise goes to God, the One who has opened this door.

We are deeply grateful for the generous Church of WNY grant, which will be used to cover the expenses of supplies such as binders, printing costs, clothing repair kits, budget planners, coffee, refreshments, and so much more.  The grant will also be used in expanding the program to new locations, allowing many more to hear about Jesus, and learn to live life well."
